Improve Driver, Passenger & Pedestrian Safety

Transit operations come with the risk of personal harm to staff and passengers. Connexionz’s ITS system optionally comes with live feeds from CCTV cameras, microphone integrations, CAD/AVL systems, driver duress buttons, and voice communications systems that mitigate and manage these risks.

Connexionz’s ITS System Improves Safety

Keep riders, passengers and drivers safe and mitigate legal risk.
deter bad behavior

Driver Safety

You can deter offenders by installing in-vehicle CCTV camera systems.  External 360-degree cameras also allow drivers to maneuver their vehicles with more confidence and less chance of something or someone, being in their blind spots.

Road Safety

External and internal cameras reduce the risk of accidents and the risk of lawsuits against the agency for alleged negligence with proof of real events.

Duress Buttons

An optional duress button discreetly mounted in a driver's cockpit means that help is only a button press away.  It could be mounted close to the hand or activated with a foot press. Activation instantly displays a prominent alert to draw the attention of your dispatcher.

Safety Features

Connexionz’s ITS system combines components to improve safety:

Duress Alarm

Drivers can physically activate the duress alarm when trouble strikes.

Public Assistance

The duress alarm activates an appeal for assistance from the public and is displayed on external vehicle signage.

CCTV Deterrent

Transit CCTV cameras act as a deterrent against passengers and drivers acting badly.

Realtime Dispatcher Observation

Live feeds from Transit cameras, transit CCTV, reversing cameras and microphones allow dispatchers to observe events in real time, so they can quickly assess how best to manage the situation.

Automatic Vehicle Location

With our automatic vehicle location system and real-time GPS tracking, you can monitor and direct first responders straight to the vehicle or organize safety measures such as roadblocks as the situation unfolds.

Bus Diagnostics and Service Alerts

Historical data from bus diagnostics and optional sensors can be used to identify dangerous driving behavior.

Help at a Push of a Button

Through the optional driver duress alarm, assistance is only a press of a button away.

Reduce Blind Spots with 360 Cams

Blind spots are a major cause of most fleet accidents. These accidents can take vehicles off the road and workers off the job, which can cost your business time, money, and reputation. By eliminating these hard-to-see areas and helping operators navigate tight roadways, you can improve safety for everyone. Remember, the best accident is the one that never happened.

Deter Bad Behavior with Live Feeds

Being aware that travellers are being recorded, deters bad behavior. Dispatchers can observe in real-time what is going on and can quickly assess how to respond.

Sam Wilkes, Operations Manager, Environment Canterbury
"Connexionz supplied and maintained our network which comprised on-bus and on-street devices, software connectivity for multiple operator depots, network management functionality and a dynamic bus allocation system at our transit station. As the network Operations Manager, I was in contact with Connexionz staff on a very regular basis. They were professional, knowledgeable and provided excellent support for their product. The Connexionz solution was user friendly from an operator and public perspective. On the network management side, we had access to a wide variety of statistics and reports that assisted with both planning and scheduling functions."

You can feel safer because there's a hidden duress button that you can activate if you need assistance. It's discreet so you don't unnecessarily alarm anyone in your vehicle.  CCTV cameras and microphones can be silently activated so you know the Dispatcher can see what's going on and organize help. Optional 360-degree cameras can help you maneuver your bus with less chance that you hit something or someone.
Knowing that Duress Buttons so that drivers can call for help, CCTV cameras and microphones can give live feeds to Dispatchers to discreetly see what is going on when the button is activated, accelerometers monitor hard braking and acceleration, and through the AVL, you always know where the bus is located, means you have peace of mind that your team is safe. If an incident occurs, your optional incident reporting application allows for a report to be written and stored.
