Dynamic bay allocation

Most stop bays are largely unoccupied. By dynamically allocating stop bays to drivers as they enter a transit center, we can better utilize and support more services given the same number of stops, reducing the amount of expensive real estate required.

Growing ridership

By allowing passengers to wait in warm, secure and safe lounges, we have seen passenger numbers increase far above expected forecasts. A key feature of our design is a "Star Trek" door system that allows passengers to step out of a lounger directly onto their vehicle.

Great transit center designs grow ridership

Our experience shows that improving rider experiences with warm, dry, pleasant lounges complete with clear airport style signage showing reliable real-time trip arrival times results in extraordinary ridership growth. We've also observed that female ridership growth was disproportionately high because surveillance cameras resulted in a safer environment.

Environment Canterbury Metro Terminal Christchurch New Zealand

The replacement terminal built after the devastating earthquakes features a control room with a full ITS cockpit, passenger info signs and audio plinths, sensors to enable automatic bay allocation, door opening and closing, driver notification, and unauthorised personnel alerts. Control room staff have an extensive dashboard view of the network to manage every bay, bus, driver and service. Currently handling 18,000 riders/day and built to accommodate growth to 70,000 riders.

Solano County Terminal

SolTrans didn't want buses allocated to a particular bay. Instead, we used our ITS technologies to direct passengers to let them know that their service had arrived and where to find it. Dynamic ushering allows better utilization of the real estate allowing Soltrans to service many more trips without needing to expand their terminal.
